Desert Pearl Inn - A luxurious lodging only a stone’s throw from Zion National Park

Less than 1 mile / 1.5 km from the southern park entrance of Zion, we were fortunate enough to spend a night in grand comfort at Desert Pearl Inn, Springdale. We arrived quite early in the day, and were very warmly welcomed by two lovely girls behind the reception desk. We were kindly encouraged to settle in, make ourselves at home, and utilise the grounds and facilities as we please.

We were lucky enough to be introduced to the incredibly friendly, bubbly, and highly experienced Desert Pearl manager, Carrie. Carrie took the time to give us a personal tour of the perfectly maintained grounds and suites. We were explained the history behind Desert Pearl and told that the original owners and developers reside in Salt Lake City, however are still heavily involved & passionate in ensuring that the Inn’s are running to high standards, the staff are happy, and people are continuing to have an enjoyable stay.

We learnt that there are just over 70 rooms at Desert Pearl which can accomodate for up to 6 people, ranging between suites, double rooms, and private king rooms. It was great that as a keen hiker herself, Carrie has extensive knowledge about the activities that are available in Zion National Park, and she was able to share a few of her favourite trail recommendations with us (thanks Carrie!)

Just another thing that we absolutely love about Desert Pearl is how earth-friendly they are. With sustainable energy used throughout the lodges, including solar panels, water saving methods in place, saline pools, & implemented recycling throughout each room, they truly care and respect the environment around them. Even all of the beautiful wood used throughout Desert Pearl Inn is old-growth redwood and Douglas fir, reclaimed from the historic Lucin Cutoff railroad trestle that once spanned the Great Salt Lake.

As the sun was shining, we decided to really make the most of the picture perfect day and we headed straight to the outdoor leisure area to soak up those rays! With a large in-ground pool surrounded by a seperate hot-tub / spa, customer waterfall features, undercover tables and chairs to enjoy your lunch, and lots and lots of sun-beds, it was as though we were in an outdoor oasis.. We had blue skies and nothing but mountain views, and spent our afternoon feeling as though we hadn’t even yet left the national park with the views straight from the pool.

After a few hours of pure rest, relaxation, and organising our future travel plans - we checked into our suite for the night. Full of character with personal touches and history, we loved the exposed timber beams throughout the room and the spacious bedroom, living, and bathroom areas. Instantly we were drawn towards our private balcony area, where we were only metres away from the Virgin River, and the mountains that stood tall above the riverside trees.

Our room was equipped with a convenience kitchen, including sink and preparation area, refrigerator, microwave, small pizza oven, and dishwasher - everything that is needed to cook your own meals. However if you decide that you would prefer to dine-out, you have numerous options throughout Springdale, including East 9 - an Italian fusion restaurant semi-attached to Desert Inn, which offers guests 10% discount during dinner, and 30% discount for breakfast when you show them your room key! We opted to make the most of our gorgeous room and private river-view balcony, enjoying some cheese and wine in ultimate privacy and serenity!

Just before sunset, we ventured back to the outdoor area and jumped in the hot-tub to enjoy the mountain views once again - you thankfully really can’t escape them here at Desert Pearl! Whether you want to spend your night star gazing from your porch or balcony, or watching one of the many movies that you can rent for free from reception, you are guaranteed to have a relaxing and enjoyable night here.

All of the special touches within the room including gourmet coffee & brewer, high-speed wifi, fancy dinnerware, ironing facilities, a selection of different pillows, ample storage space, cable TV, complimentary hand-made soaps.. all of these little things are what really make you feel so comfortable and at home when at Desert Pearl.

The only regret that we had about our time at Desert Pearl, was that we didn’t organise to stay for another night! A two day experience would definitely be worth your while to completely soak in all that the place has to offer. In an unbeatable location, you are also able to utilise a complimentary shuttle bus service that can take you either straight into Zion National Park, or further down the road to the many cafe’s, art and gift stores, or local supermarket. The friendly staff at reception were more than happy to provide us with shuttle time-tables as well as brochures with information about hiking trails and all things to do and see once you’ve entered the park.

We loved our time at Desert Pearl Inn & would highly recommend a stop-off here for anyone who may be travelling to Zion National Park and needing a place to reside. To ensure that you don’t miss out on a wonderful experience here, make your reservation in advance as they are definitely a popular place and bookings are best to be made as soon as you can!
