After camping out in the nearby Canyonlands National Park for a few days, it was incredible to be able to check into our own little cabin, just a short drive away from the National Park. We found ourselves instantly surrounded by the mountains, gorgeous landscapes and wildlife. With the driving instructions that were emailed to us prior to our arrival, we located our Canyonlands Lodging cabin quite easily - so close to the national parks and nearby towns, but on land so secluded, peaceful, and private.
We stayed in a characteristic red, horse-barn which has been recently renovated to accomodate for guests in an attached cosy cabin. We parked our van just outside, where we were greeted with a pristinely maintained outdoor area - a fire pit that had already been set-up and arranged for us, a BBQ / cooker facility, and picnic tables and chairs. There was also a guest-book which had lots of helpful information about a whole range of nearby hikes and walks, viewpoints, and suggested attractions for us to explore during our stay - along with hundreds of comments from previous happy visitors that had enjoyed their stay - we knew we were going to love it here and we hadn’t even checked out our sleeping quarters yet!
From the moment we entered our cabin, the Trigger Room, and were instantly impressed with how much thought and care had been taken to prepare for our arrival!
With interior timber panelling and furniture, lots of cushions, curtains, rugs, blankets, paintings, and decorations, we felt right at home from the moment we set foot in the door! We were welcomed by a note on the dining table from the owners Jerry and Tina, encouraging us to make ourselves comfortable, contact them if there is anything that we needed, and enjoy the complimentary treats and drinks. Two heaters were already on for us in the bathroom and bedroom, warming up this little place and making you forget how icy cold it is outside! With a futon lounge, a desk and coffee area, and large spacious bedroom, there was so much room for comfort and relaxation!
Tempted by the delicious cookies that were just waiting to be devoured, we made ourselves a hot drink from the selection of tea, cocoa, and coffee and sat and enjoyed our warm surroundings.
Before it got too late in the afternoon, we went to explore the Canyonlands Lodging property, and take some photos of the mountainous backdrop and small lake, all within walking distance from our cabin. Getting glimpses of the other cabin’s of all colours, shapes, and sizes that are spaced out amongst the large property, it seemed as though whether you are a couple, solo-traveller, family, or large group of friends - there was an accomodation at Canyonlands Lodging that would be suitable for you!
After enjoying a little walk, we returned to our home-away-from-home and cooked ourselves some dinner, poured a glass of wine, found a movie on TV to watch, and put our feet up! With a mini-fridge/freezer, microwave, dinnerware, wifi, and television all inside our room, there was absolutely no reason for us to leave our little oasis for the night.
With a bedroom heater and lots of extra doona’s to use throughout the night, we slept extremely warm and comfortable! After a hot shower and breakfast the next morning, it was time for us to unfortunately leave our temporary home at Canyonlands Lodging and continue on to our next adventure - on the road to Bryce Canyon National Park!
In such a perfect location to so many sights, attractions, national parks and forests, mountains just outside our window, and so many thoughtful touches, our stay at Canyonlands Lodging was perfect, one we will remember and one we hope to return to in the future!
Thank you Jerry & Tina for making us feel so welcome in your gorgeous guest ranch and property - we hope to be back to visit you one day.
