During our last week in South America, we decided that we needed some rest, relaxation, and an opportunity to catch-up on some blogging and videography processing. Our final destination was the beautiful beach of Mancora, in the north of Peru.
We were fortunate enough to stay for a night in the Naif Rustic & Ecological Lodge, located 60 meters from the beach via a direct road, and only 2 minutes from the main town and street. This eco-lodge has accomodation options for all types - those travelling alone, couples, and even families, with beautifully decorated private bungalows, matrimonial rooms, double rooms, triples, and even a larger room that can sleep up to five people!
When you walk into Naif, instantly you feel as though you are in another world - something that you would imagine paradise to be just like! We were greeted by the lovely owner Cynthia who showed us to our room and told us “this is your home here, relax and make yourself comfortable”.
Before we even stepped foot inside our room, we already loved our new stay for the night. With our own private little terrace with a table, chairs, and two hammocks, it was nice to have our own space to enjoy the outside sunshine. Inside our beautifully crafted bamboo house, we had lots of space to store our things, and a comfortable bed set-up with a mosquito net, and fresh towels. Each room at Naif also has a private ensuite - after staying in hostels for the majority of our trip, it’s been nice to not line up for a shower and toilet!
After settling into our room, we decided it was time to cool off from the morning sunshine so we put on our swimmers to get ready for some pool-time! The peaceful common area for all guests to share at Naif is filled with relaxing hammocks, sun-beds, tables and chairs, and cushions - all surrounded by palm trees and greenery. Like we have already said, ultimate paradise!
With a communal and fully equipped kitchen, BBQ, and pool all accessible at the lodge, we really had no reason at all to leave here for the day! And we didn’t want to :) As Naif only sleeps a maximum of around 20 people, it is never overcrowded or noisy here - exactly what we were after!
For those who want more than just relaxation, Cynthia can also assist with arranging activities such as yoga, surfing lessons, kite surfing, fishing, and massages. There are also Peruvian cooking classes that are held at Naif which are run by Cynthia, where guests can learn more about the local cuisine and how to make delicious dishes such as ceviche and causa - if you stay here, make sure you enquire upon check-in about this!
We enjoyed an afternoon swimming in the pool, reading, and updating our website. Just when we thought we may need to leave our little paradise to get something to eat, we discovered that there is a wood-fire oven on location, where home-made pizza’s are cooked each night! For an affordable 30 soles (most decent meals in town are around this price), we ordered a vegetarian pizza - so delicious and topped with so much cheese, mushroom, tomato, and sauce goodness! Naif is open to the public each night for dinner for anyone to enjoy, not only just guests - so if you’re not lucky enough to be staying here, in the least come to visit for a delicious dinner feast.
After putting ourselves well and truly into a food-coma, we were ready for an early night’s sleep, and as Mancora is quite warm day and night, all year around, it was perfect having a ceiling fan to keep us cool all night long.
We had such an enjoyable experience at Naif and with the lovely Cynthia - always a smile on her face and happy to help with anything that we needed - we can’t recommend highly enough this lodge, and will certainly return if visiting Mancora once again!
